Ivy Claire Amoko (born 3 May 1987) is a Ugandan Chess player and lawyer. She was the first woman to become a Woman Fide Master (WFM) in East Africa and is currently the highest rated female chess player in East Africa.

Amoko was born to Idule Amoko and Stella Arach Amoko.[1] She attended Shimoni Demonstration School for primary and later St Joseph’s Nsambya (O-level) and Nabisunsa Girls (A-level).[1]
She attained a Bachelor's of Law Degree from Makerere University(2007-2012). It was at Makerere University that she started to play chess in her first year after dropping out of the volleyball team.
She attained her Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School Of Law (2015-2016).
Amoko started playing chess in 2007.[2] She won on her debut in Rwabushenyi Memorial Chess tournament in the Females category in 2014, after winning all her 8 tournament games, capturing the title from Phiona Mutesi.[3] She lost the title to Gloria Nansubuga in 2015.
At the close of the 41st World Chess Olympiad in Tromso, she was elevated to Women Fide Master and she was the first woman to achieve this feat in East Africa.[4]
She currently plays with the Kireka Panthers Chess Club in the Uganda Chess League[5]
She was a law clerk with Mukuve Law Firm in Kampala, Uganda(2014).[3] She is Currently a Resettlement Expert at UNHCR Sudan Operation.
